Following changes in DfE guidance and taking into account feedback from schools we have revised our model complaints procedures for use within voluntary aided schools and academies in the Diocese.

Two policies are attached to this article, one for academies within a multi-academy trust within the Diocese and one for voluntary aided schools or standalone academies within the Diocese.

It is recommended that all schools and academies adopt the revised model procedures at their next available opportunity.

An accompanying guidance note for schools on the procedures and the management of complaints will be circulated to schools shortly and training on the management of complaints is available from the Diocese  - see separate post on this website.

School and Academy Policies
The Schools and Academies Policy Working Group have produced a Policy Tracker for use by policy leads within our Schools and Academies. The tracker captures all the policies that presently schools and academies are required to have in place together with a standard set of non-mandatory policies. The tracker makes recommendations as to what level, Board, Governing Body, Chair of Governors or Headteacher, authority to adopt policies should be delegated and also provides a progress check function. The use of the tracker is optional and it is provided simply as a possible source of support for those colleagues in schools and academies responsible for the management and development of policies.

Whilst we are confident that the Tracker captures all mandatory policies schools may wish to make their own additions to the set of non-mandatory policies.

If you require anymore information on the Tracker or the work of the Policy Working Group please contact
