CREATING YOUR OWN CROSS!

Creating crosses to illustrate the liturgical seasons is quite easy and quite cheap. Here's how:

Making the Cross

  • Make a template for your cross - a hieght of 12 to 18 inches is good, as illustrations can be clearly visible. This also means that the crosses will all be the same size.
  • Get these cut out from a piece of wood. Paint the crosses black if you are going to stick things directly onto the wood.

Decorating the Cross

  • Using card or paper, create a background which is the colour of the liturical season
  • The figure of Jesus: maybe these can be drawn or alternatively find an illustration and get it copied.
  • What images of the season are you going to use?
  • Stick the figure of Jesus and the images onto the liturgical coloured background.
  • If possible, laminate the 'decorated' background.
  • Attach the background to the wooden cross.
